Falcon to read 4 million electricity metres next December

The company gets a value ranging from 100 to 200 piastres per valid statement, says El Far

The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company agreed with “Shuaa” company of the Falcon Foundation to read 4 million electricity metres in nine sectors of the electricity distribution companies in the republic, starting December.

Hussaini El Far, a member of the distribution companies told Daily News Egypt that all the legal and financial items were agreed with Shuaa. The contract will be completed within 30 days, and the readings will be applied in nine sectors of the distribution companies.

He explained that the agreement includes the collection of fixed value for each metre’s reading according to the delivery of consumption, and the value ranges between 100 to 200 piastres for each disclosure of the correct reading. He continued, “the gain achieved in the correct readings is greater than the value obtained by the company.”

He said that hiring a private company to read the counters is the main cause of the deficit in the number of searchers and collectors. No one will be appointed as a result of the large increase in the number of electricity workers. Consumers will also be assured that a neutral company will read the metres correctly.

He pointed out that the scouts in the departments that Falcon will start reading the counters will be transferred to the collection department in the sector of each distribution company.

Shuaa, the company affiliated to Falcon, will handle readings of metres in nine sectors, including Shoubra, which is affiliated to the North Cairo Electricity Distribution Company; south of Cairo, affiliated to the South Cairo Distribution Company; the north east affiliated to the Canal Company for Electricity Distribution; and Qaluybia, which is affiliated to the South Delta Electricity Distribution Company.

It will also handle reading metres in the Beheira Company for Electricity Distribution; Kafr Al-Sheikh, which is affiliated to North Delta; the North Coast, which is affiliated to the Alexandria Electricity Company; and Qena, which is affiliated to Upper Egypt.

El Far pointed out that consumers will not be bearing any burdens for the meters and the ministry will pay the value of the meters detection to Falcon out of the amounts collected from the fees of customers service, which will range between EGP 1 and up to EGP 40 based on the consumption segment.
