14% increase in deposits in Egypt Post savings fund in 2015/2016

The post also noted increases in dispensed pensions and the number of offices


The amount of deposited money in Egypt Post’s savings fund reached EGP 100.6bn in 2015/2016, up from EGP 88.3bn in 2014/2015, marking an increase of 14%, according to the annual bulletin on postal service issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The report noted that the value of the customer balance reached EGP 188.3bn in 2015/2016 compared to EGP 169.6bn in 2014/2015, an increase of 11%.

The amount of dispensed pension reached EGP 55.7bn in 2015/2016, compared to EGP 49.2bn in 2014/2015, an increase of 13.1%.

The report added that the number of dispensed pension transactions reached 65.1 million in 2015/2016, compared to 61.2 million 2014/2015—an increase of 6.4%.

CAPMAS pointed out that the deposited amount value via mailing checks reached EGP 56.8bn in 2015/2016, compared to EGP 49.5bn in 2014/2015, an increase of 14.7%.

It noted that the value of sold stamps at post offices reached EGP 250.8m in 2015/2016, compared to EGP 274.1m in 2014/2015, a decrease of 8.5%.

Meanwhile, the number of postal services offices reached 3,979 in 2015/2016, compared to 3,965 in 2014/2015, an increase of 0.4%.

Additionally, the number of electronic payment service points reached 2,144 throughout Egypt in 2015/2016, compared to 2,046 in 2014/2015, an increase of 4.8%. The units are an automated system that enables clients to conduct financial transactions and balance inquiries.
